Sheila Tallon
Sheila Tallon, MSW, RSW, is a seasoned Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience in the counseling field. As the founder of Sheila Tallon & Associates Counselling Services, Sheila is dedicated to helping individuals reach their full potential and improve their mental health. She holds a Master’s degree in social work and is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
Throughout her career, Sheila has worked with a diverse range of clients, including children, youth, adults, couples, families, and organizations. Her areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, workplace challenges, and relationship dynamics. Sheila is passionate about empowering clients to build emotional resilience and achieve lasting mental wellness. She is also a committed ally to the LGBTQ+ community, fostering an inclusive, affirming space for individuals of all identities and experiences.
Sheila brings valuable experience working on various community, regional, and provincial committees and initiatives focused on reconciliation, actively contributing to fostering understanding, healing, and respectful partnerships.
Her therapeutic approach combines evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, exposure therapy, and biofeedback to help clients address the root causes of their struggles and develop effective coping skills for lasting change.
In addition to her clinical work, Sheila provides supervision and mentorship to emerging therapists and counselors, offering guidance and support to help them develop their clinical skills, deepen their therapeutic practice, and navigate the complexities of client work. Her supervisory approach is rooted in a commitment to professional growth, ethical practice, and reflective learning.
Sheila also offers workshops and training to promote mental wellness and performance excellence within the community.
She has extensive experience providing counseling through Employee and Family Assistance Programs (EFAPs), supporting both employees and organizations through confidential counseling for a wide range of personal and work-related concerns. Sheila helps employees manage stress, workplace conflict, burnout, and performance challenges—fostering healthier work environments and enhancing organizational well-being. Her EFAP approach is tailored to the unique needs of each workplace, focusing on short-term, solution-oriented interventions that promote long-term mental wellness.
